Place wards over walls rather than in bushes — Kayn's E (Shadow Step) lets him ignore terrain collision, so he can bypass common ward spots and gank through walls from unexpected angles.
Basic Lane Phase
Track whether Kayn is fighting mostly melee or ranged champions — melee takedowns and damage push him toward Darkin (Red) form while ranged pushes him toward Shadow Assassin (Blue), so you can anticipate which threat profile he'll have once he transforms.
Lane Phase
Group up against Shadow Assassin (Blue) Kayn rather than splitting off alone — he's built to burst down isolated backline targets and is far less effective against a team that stays together.
Team Fight Late Game
Darkin (Red) Kayn heals for a portion of the physical damage his abilities deal to champions, making him much harder to burst down and stronger in extended fights against tanks and bruisers.

Save your crowd control for the moment Kayn detaches from his R (Umbral Trespass) — he's untargetable while attached to his target but briefly vulnerable right after he emerges.
