Place wards over walls near lanes instead of in bushes - Kayn can use his E (Shadow Step) to pass through terrain, bypassing normal ward spots and creating unique gank paths.
Basic Lane Phase
Track which champions Kayn is attacking regularly - melee champions give progress toward Red (Darkin) form while ranged champions give progress toward Blue (Shadow Assassin) form. Adjust your playstyle once he transforms.
Lane Phase
When facing Blue Kayn (Shadow Assassin), stay grouped with your team - he excels at picking off isolated targets but struggles against coordinated teams with multiple threats.
Late Game Team Fight
Red Kayn (Darkin form) heals for 25% of the damage he deals with abilities, making him much stronger in extended fights against tanks and bruisers.
Team Fight
Save key CC abilities for when Kayn exits his R (Umbral Trespass) - he's untargetable while inside a champion but vulnerable immediately after exiting.
Skirmish Team Fight
Kayn can easily dive towers with his E (Shadow Step) to move through terrain and R (Umbral Trespass) to become untargetable. Keep this in mind when defending towers with low health.
Late Game
Expect frequent ganks and invades in the early game - Kayn needs to fight champions to collect transformation orbs, making him more aggressive than many junglers early on.
Basic Lane Phase
Blue Kayn deals 15%-45% bonus magic damage when entering combat after being out of combat for 8+ seconds or after using his R. Be especially wary when he approaches from fog of war.
Advanced Skirmish
When recalling, stand in the middle of the lane away from walls - Kayn can use his E to approach through terrain and catch you off guard during recalls.
Basic Lane Phase
Look to engage Kayn when his E (Shadow Step) is on cooldown - without this mobility spell, he has limited escape options and is much more vulnerable.
