Ward against his early ganks — Jarvan can gank effectively at level 2 once he has both Q and E, using his flag-drag combo for a strong gap closer with knockup.
Basic Lane Phase
Spread out in teamfights — Jarvan's ultimate is designed to lock down multiple champions, so maintaining proper spacing prevents him from getting value with multi-champion Cataclysms.
Team Fight
Save mobility spells to escape his ultimate — Jarvan's Cataclysm creates impassable terrain for 3.5 seconds, but champions with dash, blink, or jump abilities can escape over the walls.
