Bait out Shen's E (Shadow Dash) and then engage during its long cooldown (18-10 seconds) — without his taunt, he has very limited ways to engage on you and becomes much less threatening.
Lane Phase Skirmish
When Shen activates his W (Spirit's Refuge), back away or use abilities instead of auto attacks — all your basic attacks will be completely blocked for 1.75 seconds.
Basic Lane Phase Team Fight
Position away from Shen's Spirit Blade when trading — if his Q passes through you, it grants him 50% attack speed and increased damage on his next three attacks.
Lane Phase Skirmish
Watch for Shen's Spirit Blade position (indicated by an arrow pointing from him) — staying away from it reduces his W protection zone coverage and helps you anticipate his abilities.
Lane Phase Team Fight
When Shen teleports with his ultimate, immediately push the minion wave into his tower — this makes him lose minion gold and experience while he's away.
Basic Lane Phase
If you see a purple glow around an enemy champion and Shen standing still, he's channeling his ultimate. This 3-second channel can be interrupted by any crowd control ability, putting it on full cooldown.
Team Fight
In the late game, assign a strong duelist to match Shen's split push — he often splits when his ultimate is available, as he can quickly join fights from a side lane.
Advanced Late Game
Shen's level 2 and 3 all-in potential is quite strong — his taunt combined with enhanced Q attacks can deal significant damage early in the game.
