Trade when Galio's E and W are on cooldown — his Justice Punch (E) and Shield of Durand (W) have long cooldowns (7-11s and 14-18s respectively). When both are down, he lacks both mobility and CC, creating a significant vulnerability window.
Lane Phase Skirmish
Spread out in team fights against Galio — grouping closely allows him to maximize his W taunt and R knockback on multiple targets. Proper spacing reduces his AoE effectiveness and makes his engage less impactful.
Basic Team Fight
Disengage quickly when Galio uses E toward you — if he connects with Justice Punch, he'll follow up with his W taunt. Use mobility spells or Flash immediately to create distance before he can land his full combo.
Lane Phase Skirmish
Interrupt Galio's R in the first 1.25 seconds of its channel — his Hero's Entrance can be canceled with any CC during this window, preventing his roam and putting the ability on full cooldown.
Team Fight
Ping missing immediately when Galio leaves lane after level 6 — his R has a super long range (4000-5500 units) and allows him to quickly join fights in other lanes. Early warnings give your teammates time to retreat.
Basic Lane Phase
Keep Galio pushed under tower to limit his roaming — after completing his first item, he can quickly clear waves with Q and roam. Matching his waveclear forces him to stay in lane or lose minions and experience.

Attack Galio while his W is charging — during the channel, he slows himself by 15% and the taunt radius grows over 1.25 seconds. If you can get outside the radius (which expands from 175 to 350 units), you can punish him with ranged abilities.

If playing a ranged champion, harass Galio when he approaches to last hit — his melee nature forces him to come close to minions, creating windows to poke him safely without triggering his E-W combo.
