Position yourself behind minions but not too close to them when laning against Karma — her Q explodes on the first target hit and deals AoE damage, so minions can block the initial hit while maintaining distance helps avoid the explosion damage.
Basic Lane Phase
Look to trade aggressively when Karma uses her E shield/speed boost — without this defensive ability, she becomes significantly more vulnerable for 8-10 seconds.
Lane Phase Skirmish
When Karma tethers you with her W, move away quickly to break the tether — if maintained for 2 seconds, it will root you and deal additional damage, but it breaks if you move beyond medium range (825 units) from her.

Engage immediately after Karma uses her empowered Q for poke — with her Mantra on cooldown (34-40 seconds), she can't provide her team with an AoE shield, significantly reducing her team fight impact.

Look to all-in Karma once you reach level 6 if you play a champion with a strong ultimate — unlike other supports, Karma already has her ultimate at level 1, so she gains no new abilities at 6 while you gain significant power.
Lane Phase
Play defensively against Karma during levels 1-3 — her access to Mantra from level 1 gives her unusually strong early poke with empowered Q, which can chunk your health significantly.

Spread out when Karma has her Mantra available during team fights — her empowered E shields and speeds up her entire team in a 700-unit radius, giving them a significant defensive and mobility advantage.
