Place control wards in river and jungle entrances before Ekko ganks. His W stun is most effective when cast from unwarded areas where enemies can't see the 2-second setup animation.
Lane Phase
Ekko's W creates a circular zone that appears to enemies after 2 seconds, then activates 1.5 seconds later. If Ekko enters this zone, it stuns all enemies inside for 2.25 seconds - position to follow up immediately when you see him moving toward his W.
Basic Team Fight Skirmish
Wait until Ekko's W stun wears off before using your own crowd control abilities. This maximizes disable duration and gives your team more time to focus targets.
Team Fight
Pay attention to Ekko's hologram showing where he was 4 seconds ago. This indicates where he'll teleport if he uses his R ultimate, letting you position to follow up on the large area damage it creates.
Team Fight Skirmish
When setting up for objectives, ward flanking routes that Ekko can use to access the enemy backline. This provides him safer paths to engage from unexpected angles with his W+E combo.
Team Fight
Watch for enemies with 2 stacks of Ekko's passive (indicated by swirling circles). Focus damage on these targets to help Ekko trigger the third stack, which deals bonus damage and grants him 50-80% movement speed.
Skirmish Team Fight
When Ekko is low health and being chased, don't immediately disengage. Position to follow up if he uses R, as the large burst damage from his ultimate can turn a retreat into a counter-engage opportunity.
Advanced Skirmish
After Ekko reaches level 6, he can make more aggressive plays with his ultimate as an escape. Follow his engages more confidently during ganks, as he can escape bad situations by pressing R.
