Coordinate an all-in as soon as Nautilus hits level 2 — his Q stun chains into his passive root on the follow-up auto-attack, giving enough lockdown to force a kill or a summoner spell.
Basic Lane Phase
Nautilus's R is a guaranteed engage at medium range — it can't be blocked by minions, though enemy spell shields will stop it, so follow up immediately once he locks someone down for the knockup and stun.
Team Fight Skirmish
Time your own crowd control to begin as Nautilus's CC ends rather than stacking on top of it — his passive root, Q stun, E slow, and R knockup/stun can combine into a very long disable if sequenced well.
Advanced Team Fight Skirmish
Nautilus engages best out of fog of war — placing control wards in brushes near objectives makes his Q hook or R much harder for enemies to see coming or dodge.
Team Fight
Help shield Nautilus from poke in lane when you can — if he gets whittled down too low, he can't threaten an all-in with his CC, so keeping him healthy is what lets him engage.

Nautilus's passive can't root the same target again for several seconds — in a teamfight he'll often spread it across different enemies rather than reapplying it to one target, so expect him to threaten multiple people, not just his primary target.

When retreating, stay close to Nautilus so his E can slow pursuers — Riptide's waves slow anyone hit, giving your team time to reposition or turn the fight.

In late-game teamfights, Nautilus tends to peel after his initial engage — as a carry, stay near him so his remaining CC can shut down divers going for you.
