Sylas's R (Hijack) allows him to steal and use enemy ultimates. Pay attention to which ultimates he steals, as this will drastically change his engage patterns and teamfight approach.
Basic Team Fight Skirmish
When Sylas lands his E chain stun, immediately follow up with your own damage or CC abilities. The stun only lasts 0.5 seconds, creating a small window to maximize crowd control chaining.
Team Fight Skirmish
Don't abandon Sylas when he's at low health during skirmishes. His W (Kingslayer) healing doubles when he's at low health, allowing him to suddenly recover significant health and turn fights around.
Skirmish
When Sylas reaches level 6, be ready for his ganks with stolen ultimates. Coordinate fights and objectives around this power spike, especially if enemies have strong team-fighting ultimates like Amumu, Malphite, or Sejuani.
Basic Lane Phase Team Fight
Help set up Sylas's ganks by using your own CC abilities first. This makes it easier for him to land his E (chain) for additional crowd control and guarantees more damage from his combo.
Lane Phase
Look to group with Sylas for dragon fights and jungle skirmishes during mid-game (15-25 minutes). This is when he's strongest, allowing him to maximize his impact before enemies can build defensive items.
Skirmish
Place Control Wards in the enemy jungle to help Sylas find flanking opportunities. His E (Abscond/Abduct) is most effective when he can surprise enemies from unexpected angles rather than engaging head-on.
Advanced Team Fight
Position enemies towards Sylas's Q explosion zones during skirmishes. The intersection of his chains deals secondary damage after a short delay, and coordinating CC to keep enemies in this area maximizes his damage output.
