Unlike many mid laners, Akali provides no hard crowd control abilities. When she's on your team, ensure other roles bring reliable stuns or roots to compensate, especially against mobile champions that Akali might struggle to lock down.
Basic Team Fight Skirmish
When Akali marks an enemy with her E (Shuriken Flip), try to land crowd control abilities before she dashes in. This gives her a safer opportunity to deliver her full damage combo while the target is immobilized.
Skirmish Team Fight
When Akali reaches level 6, she gains significant kill potential with her R (Perfect Execution). When she pings she's ready to engage, follow up quickly with your damage or crowd control as her burst combo is fast but leaves her vulnerable immediately after completion.
Basic Lane Phase Skirmish
Akali depletes energy quickly when using abilities in succession. In extended skirmishes, be ready to provide protection when she backs off to regain energy, especially after she uses her Q multiple times.
Skirmish Team Fight
After using her full combo, Akali has a period of vulnerability while waiting for cooldowns. Position to protect her during these windows, especially in the 2.5 seconds between her R1 and R2 casts when she's committed but cannot fully escape.
Advanced Team Fight Skirmish
When Akali has her ultimate available, she can engage from medium range. Position within follow-up distance but don't group too tightly with her, as she needs space to utilize her passive ring mechanic for maximum damage.
Team Fight
When Akali's W (Twilight Shroud) is on cooldown (16-20 seconds early game), she's much more vulnerable. Coordinate aggressive plays during this window as enemies will likely be more confident in engaging on her.
Team Fight Skirmish
Akali's second R cast deals execute damage based on missing health. If she's waiting to use her R2, help soften targets first, and be ready to follow up when she dashes in for the execute, as this often signals her full commitment to the fight.
