When Rammus activates his Q (Powerball), he gains massive movement speed and will arrive at your lane very quickly. Position aggressively when he's approaching to ensure enemies have to choose between retreating into Rammus's path or fighting you at a disadvantage.
Basic Lane Phase
Save your crowd control abilities until Rammus's E (Frenzying Taunt) ends. His taunt forces an enemy to attack him for up to 2 seconds, and using your CC afterward creates a longer chain of disables that prevents enemies from escaping or fighting back.
Skirmish Team Fight
Rammus has a weak early game and is vulnerable to invades. If you see the enemy jungler entering Rammus's jungle, ping and move to assist quickly - he struggles in early 1v1 fights and needs team support to defend his camps.
Basic Lane Phase
When Rammus uses his R (Soaring Slam), it applies a stacking slow that can reach up to 80%. Use this window to land skillshots or engage on slowed targets who cannot escape easily, especially when multiple enemies are affected.
Team Fight
When Rammus activates his W (Defensive Ball Curl), enemies who attack him take reflected magic damage. During skirmishes, allow him to be attacked while in this state rather than immediately peeling enemies off him to maximize team damage output.
Skirmish Team Fight
When Rammus uses Q (Powerball) and then casts R (Soaring Slam), enemies in the center are knocked up and take damage from both abilities. Position to follow up on this powerful CC combo, as targets will be disabled for over 1 second total.
Team Fight
Be aware that Rammus's engagement range is much larger than most champions due to his Q (Powerball). When positioning for objectives, understand he can engage from medium to long range very quickly, meaning fights can start suddenly.
Skirmish Team Fight
After a successful gank, help Rammus push the wave to take advantage of his R (Soaring Slam), which deals double damage to towers. This makes tower dives and fast pushes much more effective, especially after securing a kill.
