When Zed uses his R on an enemy, focus fire that target within the 3-second mark duration. Additional damage you deal during this window increases the ultimate's detonation damage, making it more likely to secure the kill.
Basic Team Fight Skirmish
Coordinate ganks or roams when Zed reaches level 6. His Death Mark gives him significant assassination potential that benefits greatly from your additional damage or crowd control abilities.
Basic Lane Phase
After Zed uses his W shadow aggressively, he has no escape for 16-20 seconds. This vulnerability window is the ideal time for junglers to gank mid or for enemy laners to trade with him.

When Zed places his W shadow, be ready for him to swap positions. Position yourself to follow up when he switches to his shadow for an all-in, or to protect him when he uses it to escape.
Skirmish Team Fight
Use your crowd control abilities to help Zed land both his and his shadow's abilities on the same target. This maximizes his damage output and helps restore his energy through his W passive.

After Zed eliminates an isolated target, immediately push for nearby objectives. These temporary 5v4 advantages are especially valuable with Zed, as his effectiveness decreases in the late game against grouped enemies.

Look for the spinning shuriken indicator above an enemy's head during Zed's ultimate. This signals the mark will likely kill them, letting you know whether to commit additional resources or save them for other targets.
