When Yone uses E (Soul Unbound), he exists in spirit form for 5 seconds before automatically returning to his body. This creates a limited window for engaging - be ready to follow up quickly when he initiates, as he can't extend his time away from his body.
Basic Team Fight Skirmish
Watch for Yone landing his Q twice on minions or champions - his third Q gains a dash and knockup effect. Position to follow up when you see him with two stacks of Gathering Storm (visible as a swirling wind effect around him) to capitalize on his reliable crowd control.
Lane Phase Skirmish
When Yone lands his ultimate (R), delay your crowd control abilities for a moment. His R stuns enemies for 1 second and then knocks them up for 0.75 seconds, allowing you to chain CC for maximum disable duration.
Team Fight
When Yone reaches level 6, look for opportunities to coordinate ganks or roams. His ultimate provides strong engage with both stun and knockup, making ganks much more likely to succeed.
Basic Lane Phase
When Yone enters spirit form with E, protect his physical body which is visible to enemies. Position between his vulnerable body and the enemy team to prevent them from collapsing on him when he returns.
Skirmish Team Fight
When Yone's E is about to expire (marked by a dark vignette and audio cue at 1 second remaining), be ready to cover his retreat. His return position is fixed and predictable, making him vulnerable to counter-engage.
Skirmish Team Fight
Yone's ultimate has a long range (1000 units) and allows him to blink beyond the last champion hit. Position to follow up on his engages even when they start from medium distance or over walls.
Team Fight
Yone deals mixed damage through his passive Azakana Sword attacks, W, and R. This makes him effective against enemies who stack a single resistance type, so consider picking champions with primarily one damage type to force difficult itemization choices.
