When Azir casts his R (Emperor's Divide), it creates a wall that blocks enemy movement for 5 seconds. Use this time window to either engage on separated enemies or retreat safely behind it, as allies can move through the wall but enemies cannot.
Team Fight
Azir scales heavily into late game but is vulnerable in the early game. Plan your jungle pathing and team compositions to provide early protection while setting up for powerful late-game teamfights where his consistent damage output shines.
Basic Lane Phase Late Game
Azir's "Shurima Shuffle" combo (E to soldier, Q to reposition, R to push enemies) is his primary engage tool. Be ready to follow up immediately when you see him dash toward the enemy team, as this is a committed engage that requires quick team support.
Advanced Team Fight
When ganking for Azir, wait for him to slow enemies with his Q (Conquering Sands) before committing. This 25% slow (increased with multiple soldiers) creates an excellent setup for skillshots and follow-up crowd control.
Lane Phase Skirmish
Fight in narrow jungle corridors or choke points when playing with Azir. His sand soldiers attack in a line, making them extremely effective in confined spaces where enemies can't easily spread out.
Team Fight Skirmish
After Azir uses his E (Shifting Sands) to escape, he becomes vulnerable for about 16-22 seconds. Provide extra protection during this cooldown window as he lacks mobility to reposition if enemies engage.
Advanced Team Fight Skirmish
When Azir positions multiple sand soldiers, focus the same targets he's attacking. His damage increases significantly with soldier count but requires sustained target focus to maximize effectiveness.
