Give Shen advance warning before you start a fight while he's away from your lane — Stand United (R) takes a full 3-second channel before he arrives, so calling for help mid-fight is often too late.
Basic Team Fight Skirmish
Step into the zone Shen creates with his W (Spirit's Refuge) as soon as you see it primed — it activates after 2 seconds, or sooner if Shen or an ally steps inside early, and then blocks all non-turret basic attacks (including on-hit effects) for 1.75 seconds.
Team Fight Skirmish
When Shen lands his E (Shadow Dash) taunt, immediately follow up with damage or crowd control — the 1.5-second taunt forces the target to attack Shen, giving your team a free window to burst them down.
Skirmish Team Fight
When Shen channels his R (Stand United) on you, the shield lands immediately rather than after the channel — use it right away to take a trade or survive burst. It's stronger the lower your health is, up to 60% bonus strength on a near-death ally.
Lane Phase Team Fight
Once Shen's R channel finishes, he and his Spirit Blade blink to your location and land between you and the nearest enemy champion — hold your ground instead of retreating, since he's arriving to body-block for you.
Advanced Team Fight Skirmish
Watch for Shen flashing mid-dash during his E — casting Flash ends the dash early, but the taunt still lands at the blink's location, letting him extend his effective taunt range past its normal 600 units.
Advanced Skirmish Team Fight
Coordinate with Shen to let him split push top when his R is up — he can still shield and reinforce a team fight from anywhere on the map with one cast. Avoid forcing fights while his ultimate is on cooldown, since he won't be able to back you up as quickly.
