Watch Aphelios's current main weapon above his health bar — Calibrum snipes marked targets from long range, Severum heals and shields him, Gravitum slows and roots, Infernum splashes AoE damage, and Crescendum stacks bonus damage the longer a fight lasts. Each weapon calls for a different kind of fight to set up around him.
Basic Lane Phase Team Fight
Group fights in tight spaces when Aphelios has Infernum equipped — his R detonates in an area and rains splash damage onto every locked-on target, so clustering enemies turns it into a huge burst of AoE damage.
Team Fight
Look for engage windows when Aphelios has Gravitum equipped and has landed a few hits — his attacks apply a decaying slow, and his Q roots any enemy currently slowed by it, giving your team a reliable way to lock a target down.
Skirmish Lane Phase
When Aphelios has Calibrum equipped, follow up fast after his ability lands a mark — the marked target is revealed and his next attack fires from far longer range than normal, letting you punish enemies who think they're safe from him.
Lane Phase Skirmish
When Aphelios's main weapon runs dry mid-fight, he spends about a second assembling his next weapon and can't swap weapons during that time — commit your engage or your peel around this brief window rather than during the swap itself.
Advanced Skirmish Team Fight
Aphelios needs his first completed item and level 6 (his R unlock) before he wins extended fights consistently — help him farm safely before those spikes, then look to set up plays with him once he has both.
Lane Phase Late Game
When Aphelios has Crescendum equipped, protect him right after each attack — he can't fire again until the thrown chakram returns to him, and his stacked bonus damage decays if he goes too long without hitting a champion, so keeping him safe in extended fights matters more than in short trades.
