When Caitlyn channels her ultimate (R), position between her and enemy threats. She's completely stationary and revealed during the 1-second channel, making her vulnerable to interrupts and assassins.
Basic Team Fight
When Caitlyn places traps around objectives or in lane, use your crowd control abilities to force enemies to walk through or around them. Trapped enemies grant Caitlyn a powerful Headshot attack and are rooted for 1.5 seconds.
Lane Phase Team Fight
During the mid-game (15-25 minutes), Caitlyn is weaker than many other ADCs until she builds critical strike items. Stay close to her during this phase and be ready to provide protection in skirmishes.
Skirmish
If enemy champions are low on health and Caitlyn has her ultimate ready, position to zone their teammates away. Her ultimate can be intercepted by any champion, so preventing enemies from body-blocking increases her execution potential.
Team Fight
When Caitlyn uses her E (net) on an enemy, be ready to immediately follow up with your damage or CC. She often places a trap (W) where the slowed enemy will walk, creating a 1.5-second root and bonus damage opportunity.
Skirmish
Help Caitlyn control bushes around objectives and in lane. While in brush, she gains Headshot stacks twice as fast (requiring only 4 attacks instead of 5), significantly increasing her damage output during extended fights.
Lane Phase Team Fight
Before starting dragon or baron, give Caitlyn 10-15 seconds to set up her traps around approach paths. Her traps last 30-50 seconds and can create zones where enemies risk being rooted and taking bonus damage if they contest.
Advanced Team Fight
When retreating as a team, position slightly ahead of Caitlyn rather than behind her. This allows her to utilize her long attack range and E (net) to safely deal damage and slow pursuers.
Basic Team Fight
Caitlyn has one of the longest attack ranges in the game (650 units). In lane, position to allow her to harass enemies safely while being ready to protect her if enemies attempt to all-in.
Basic Lane Phase
When Caitlyn lands a trap on an enemy, they take full damage from her Q ability even if they're not the first target hit. Position so you don't block her Q when she's targeting a trapped enemy.
